WHERE: 2250 Sconyers Way, (706) 790-5411
CUISINE: Southern barbecue
DATE VISITED: June 20, 2008
WHAT WE HAD: Ribs and T-Loin Plate with slaw and hash
WHATS THERE: Barbecue pork, t-loin (pork tenderloin), beef, chicken and turkey. The sides that are offered are slaw, chips, hash (thick Brunswick stew over rice) and potato salad. Service is attentive and quick.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Expect to have a lot to eat – portions are very generous! They also place a loaf of white bread and a pitcher of water or tea on the table so you can help yourself to re-fills. They also have a big jar of old-fashioned peppermint sticks by the door on your way out.
THE VERDICT: Delicious, old fashioned barbecue. While they have tasty sauces, the flavor is in the meat – not just the sauce. They have a wide variety of barbecue and they even offer the low fat and low sodium pork tenderloin for the health conscious. Be sure to go with an appetite because you will not leave hungry.
THE AMBIENCE: The restaurant is laid-back and relaxing. The view of the South Carolina hills and the classic country music playing softly in the back ground just might make you think you are in the mountains.
