WHERE: 1282 Broad St., (706) 922-5970
CUISINE: Eclectic, American, Bistro
DATE VISITED: June 12, 2008
WHAT WE HAD: Grilled snapper with bacon wrapped asparagus, grilled pork and Panchetta shrimp skewer, braised north Georgia trout with a mixture of vegetables, homemade blueberry ice cream, mixed berry tarte, and poached pear with chocolate gnoche.
WHAT’S THERE: At Broad Street Market, you’ll find a wide variety of affordable wines and a mixture of meat and seafood entrees. The waiters are very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The presentation of the dishes is elegant.
WHAT TO EXPECT: If you go on a Wine Tasting Night, expect to wait about 30 minutes or more for your entrée, but the soft rolls with vanilla flavored butter are served immediately. Salads can be split between two people, but if you’re very hungry, order your own. The main dishes are filling and the portions are just right.
THE VERDICT: Excellent food, a little heavy on the salt for the north Georgia trout dish. But the bacon wrapped asparagus is delicious. The pork was not undercooked or too tough, but was juicy and tender. You will not go away hungry after dining here. There are single bathrooms which are very clean.
AMBIANCE: Soft jazz music was playing in the background. I felt at ease as I was dining because of the spaciousness of the restaurant and visually appealing décor. It has a quiet, intimate atmosphere perfect for a romantic evening or for business professionals.
